1. INTRODUCTION

These Terms of Service govern your use of the Lights4You website and services. By accessing or purchasing from our store, you agree to be bound by these terms.

2. PRODUCTS & AVAILABILITY

  • All products are subject to availability.
  • We reserve the right to discontinue or modify products without notice.
  • Images are for illustrative purposes; actual products may vary slightly.

3. PRICING

  • All prices are displayed in South African Rand (ZAR).
  • Prices are exclusive of VAT unless stated otherwise.
  • Lights4You reserves the right to change pricing at any time without prior notice.
  • Errors in pricing may result in order cancellation or correction.

4. ORDERS

  • An order is only confirmed once payment has been successfully received.
  • We reserve the right to cancel or refuse any order at our discretion.
  • You will receive email confirmation once your order is processed.

5. PAYMENT

We accept secure payments via approved payment gateways (e.g. PayFast, PayGate, or similar).

  • Lights4You does not store card details.
  • Payments are processed via secure third-party providers.

 

6. DELIVERY

  • Delivery timelines are estimates and not guaranteed.
  • Lights4You is not liable for delays caused by couriers or external factors.
  • Risk passes to the customer upon delivery.

7. PRODUCT USE & INSTALLATION

  • All electrical products must be installed by a qualified professional where required.
  • Lights4You is not liable for damages resulting from incorrect installation or misuse.
  • Always follow product specifications and safety guidelines.

8. WARRANTY

  • Products are covered by manufacturer warranties where applicable.
  • Warranty does not cover:
    • Incorrect installation
    • Power surges
    • Physical damage
    • Misuse or modifications

9. RETURNS & REFUNDS

Returns are subject to our Returns Policy (available on our website).

10. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • Lights4You shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
  • Our total liability shall not exceed the value of the product purchased.

11. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

All website content (images, logos, text) is the property of Lights4You and may not be used without permission.

12. GOVERNING LAW

These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa.

13. CHANGES TO TERMS

15. ELECTRICAL PRODUCT-SPECIFIC TERMS

15.1 Professional Installation Requirement

All electrical products supplied by Lights4You must be installed by a qualified and licensed electrician, in accordance with applicable South African regulations (including SANS standards where applicable).

Lights4You shall not be liable for any damage, loss, or injury resulting from:

  • Incorrect installation
  • Installation by unqualified persons
  • Failure to follow wiring instructions or product specifications

15.2 Certificate of Compliance (COC)

Where required by law, a valid Electrical Certificate of Compliance (COC) must be issued after installation.

Failure to obtain a valid COC may:

  • Void any warranty
  • Result in non-compliance with legal and insurance requirements

15.3 Voltage & Power Supply Protection

South African power conditions may include voltage fluctuations, surges, and load shedding.

Lights4You shall not be liable for damage caused by:

  • Power surges
  • Voltage spikes or drops
  • Load shedding or power restoration events

Customers are strongly advised to install:

  • Surge protection devices
  • Voltage protection systems

15.4 Product Suitability & Application

It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that the product is suitable for its intended application.

Lights4You shall not be liable for:

  • Incorrect product selection
  • Use outside specified ratings (e.g. IP rating, voltage, load capacity)
  • Environmental misuse (e.g. outdoor use of indoor-rated products)

15.5 Installation Environment & Conditions

Products must be installed in appropriate environments.

Warranty and liability will be void if products are exposed to:

  • Excess moisture or water ingress (beyond IP rating)
  • Dust, chemicals, or corrosive environments
  • Excessive heat or poor ventilation

15.6 Modification & Tampering

Any modification, alteration, or tampering with products will:

  • Immediately void the warranty
  • Release Lights4You from all liability

15.7 Load Capacity & Circuit Protection

Customers must ensure:

  • Correct circuit protection (MCBs, breakers, etc.)
  • Load does not exceed product ratings

Lights4You is not responsible for:

  • Overloading
  • Incorrect circuit design
  • Downstream electrical faults

15.8 Compatibility with Existing Systems

Lights4You does not guarantee compatibility with:

  • Existing wiring systems
  • Smart systems or automation platforms
  • Third-party components

It is the responsibility of the installer/customer to confirm compatibility prior to installation.

15.9 Testing & Commissioning

All products must be properly tested and commissioned after installation.

Failure to test before full operation may:

  • Lead to damage
  • Void warranty claims

15.10 Indirect & Consequential Damages

Lights4You shall not be liable for:

  • Loss of income
  • Business interruption
  • Damage to property or equipment
  • Any indirect or consequential damages arising from product use or failure

15.11 Bulk / Trade Purchases

For bulk or trade purchases:

  • The buyer assumes responsibility for correct specification and application
  • No liability is accepted for incorrect bulk selection decisions
  • Samples/testing are recommended prior to large orders

15.12 Acceptance of Risk

By purchasing and using electrical products from Lights4You, the customer acknowledges that:

  • Electrical products carry inherent risks if incorrectly used or installed
  • The responsibility for safe installation and use lies with the customer and/or installer
